WHAT LOVE IS AND WHAT LOVE ISN'T

"The Way of Love

1If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. 2If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing.3-7If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end. "
 1 Corinthians 13:1-7
Have you been searching for the true meaning of love? Well what you see above is the true definition of love.
The above extract is directly from the MESSAGE BIBLE with no modifications.
It clearly points out what love is and what love isn't.
To live is to love and to love is to live.
Love is pure. Love is kind. Love is rich. Love doesn't cost a thing. Love unconditionally! Not the love of this world that is selfish, puffed up and expects something in return but the kind that is genuine and sincere.
Today,  determine to show some more love to your family,  friends,  colleagues,  strangers and even your  enemies. Yes! The Bible says Love your enemies because by so doing,  you heap a coal of fire upon their heads.
If you allow hate to grow in your heart because someone hurt you or disappointed you or caused you harm in anyway, that passion of hate will end up consuming you,  not the person that offended you.
Know this today, when someone hurts you and you harbor hate for that person,  you bring yourself down to the level of that person but when you forgive, you are the bigger,  stronger and happier  person. One who forgives quickly is not a fool, infact, it takes a lot of courage and strength to forgive a friend who stabs you in the back or a lover who broke your heart or someone who betrayed your trust but if you can look beyond the pain,  very difficult I must say but possible, if you can, you will be happy and proud of yourself.
When love hurts,  you can look up to God as your source of strength. He will help you refine your broken heart and renew the love that had been buried by pain.
Don't sacrifice your happiness and inner peace because of someone else's shortcoming. You deserve to be happy. You deserve love. Everyone deserves a second chance at love. It's not easy at all especially when the hurt is buried in your heart and the pain runs deep in your soul but with the help of God,  you can overcome anything and come out stronger and better.
Love just a little more today. Love your neighbors  as yourself. If your love has been the fake type, pray to God to teach you how to genuinely and sincerely love and he will definitely help you out.
Have a blessed week ahead and remember, LIFE IS LOVE! you stop living the moment you stop loving.

NAIRA EXCHANGE RATE

Nigeria my beloveth country,
Oh the giant of Africa!
Why art thou fallen?
The alarming depreciation of the Naira currency is heartbreaking. The tremendous increase in the exchange rate is nothing to write home about, from 199 to 400 naira per USD in a matter of weeks is shocking.
What exactly is going on? What could be the reason for this sudden increase? Never in the history of Nigeria have we had it like this.
Now to buy common sachet water,  they will say dollar has gone high so it's #10. I recently went to the market and I wanted to purchase a product and the seller was claiming the product is now expensive because of the high dollar rate and am like but this is a Nigerian product. To my amazement, this guy told me that the content of the product is Nigerian made but the container is foreign... Whattttt!
The height was when a bikeman told me that his charges have increased because of dollar... Joker!
While things may still seem a bit normal for now,  it won't be for long if this increase should continue. There is already inflation of prices of goods due to the ridiculous exchange rate and before you know it,  there will be scarcity of goods and even money will be hard to come by. When all these happens,  it only boils down to one thing - Increased crime rates.
By the time youths and men cannot make ends meet,  they will take to the streets and do whatever it takes to put food on their table for themselves and the family. Before you know it,  it will become "survival of the fittest" and Nigeria will be thrown back into the perverted state of nature where life is "brutish,  nasty and short"
I want to believe our government will not let this unbecoming situation deteriorate to that stage by God's grace. Now the pertinent question is what is being done? Scratch that... What can be done?
It is common knowledge that we cannot solely rely on Petroleum as our major source of revenue anymore and as a result, the focus has shifted to agriculture and other sectors  to diversify our source of revenue,  but is this enough?
While the government is making conscious deliberate efforts to booost up economic development in Nigeria, I  still feel there is so much more they can do.
Aside exporting goods and local products, we can sell out our services also. There are so many bundles of extra ordinary talents sitting at home, searching for employment. Nigeria is filled with so many gifted minds that have a lot to offer if they are given proper orientation and training.
We talk about adulterated goods,  our famous "Abba made products"  but do you know it takes a lot of intelligence, skill amd hardwork to make a duplicate of a product that looks so much like the original? I mean some of these so called Abba made products, you can't even tell the difference between the original and the fake,  because those guys are that good. Also,  the quality of these Abba products are gradually improving. I won't deny the fact that I patronize them sometimes and I can tell you that I have some Abba shoes that have lasted longer than the so called UK made. Who can relate?
If these guys are encouraged, trained,  given the right facilities and infrastructure,  do you think they would not be able to make quality superior products? They would 100% but then again,  even if the government makes an attempt to rebrand these products by investing in them to make the products better and superior,  the 'foreign factor'  will still be there. The foreign factor simply means "if it is not made in Italy or UK or US, then I can't buy it" please my sister,  if you don't buy it, who will?
It's our Nigeria. You want change,  be the change you want to see. We cannot keep investing in the American economy or other foreign countries and expect Naira value to increase. Let's erase the "foreign factor"  mentality. Not all nigerian goods are substandard and inferior,  the few that are good, patronize them and by so doing,  you raise more funds for the manufacturers to improve on the quality of the products.
The government has the major role to play. The government should establish a n effective regulatory body to ensure that there is a set standard for the goods produced in Nigeria and that no one goes below that standard because no one wants to eat poison all in the name of patriotism. If the goods are standardized,  more people will buy.
Also,  most of the youths with innovative concepts and brilliant ideas are  in the U. S or U. K because they stand better chances there with the right facilities and the U. S government welcomes them with open hands because they know they will advance their economic development but what do the government do in Nigeria? They watch them go.
We cannot rely on goods and products alone while allowing intellectual property go to the drain. Our economy should be diversified.  The government should invest in this area of intellectual property,  encourage inventions and innovations, put adequate capital in place to bring brilliant ideas and concepts to life.
Until we take that bold step towards developing our own industry and economy, our economy will continue to be a slave to other economies. The government cannot do it alone. It is a team work, a concerted effort.
Let's begin to look around and help ourselves build the Nigeria we desire. It's our country. We are freaking Nigerians! We are smart,  brave and creative. Let's work together and do the best we can. The government should try out new technologies and techniques, invest in manpower development. lf there is no manpower development, we will keep experiencing economic growth but no economic development. They are two different things.
We are Nigerians! We are more talented than this present  ridiculous  value of the Naira currency.

WAIVER : I am not an economic expert so this is no expert opinion, just the thoughts of a concerned Nigerian citizen with Secondary school Economics knowledge, who is passionate about change in Nigeria.

FROM BREADSELLER TO BREADWINNER : THE JUMOKE STORY

The story of the young lady who went from being a breadseller to being a model in a matter of minutes is  definitely the talk of the town right now. The life changing story has got heads rolling and tongues waggling.
Olajumoke Orisaguna hit her jackpot as some would call it when she photobombed a celebrity, Tinietempah's shoot with Ty Bello, a famous photographer in Nigeria.
Ty Bello who claimed to have noticed some distunct features in her included Jumoke  in the shoot and ever since then  the ex breadseller 's life has transformed totally.
Now while some may say it's mere luck or "good head",  many have agreed that it is purely divine,  it's no coincidence.
The 27 year old mother of 2 kids went from a simple bread hawker to being the most popular girl in Nigeria right now. She was featured on the cover page of Thisday Magazine and that was just the beginning of her stardom.
Tv stations have featured the amazing story of this young lady,  including CNN! Various fashion blogs and websites across the world have also posted about the story,  including U.K and even India. Talk about worldwide recognition...

Even the celebrity,  Tinietempah @tiniegramon IG made her his WCW(Woman crush Wednesday) last week.

Jumoke is obviously sorted for life as she has been signed for various modelling contracts already. Just recently,  PayPorte,  an online shopping brand signed up Jumoke as its official campaign face for 2016.

This story is definitely a moral lesson to all of us. Keep doing what you know how to do best,  be in the right place at the right time because you never know when God will decide to elevate you and change your story for good. Don't give up when you are just at the point of your breakthrough. What would have happened to Jumoke if she had decided not to hawk bread that day and stayed home or if she had taken another route?
Also,  Jumoke's story serves as a wake-up call for all Nigerians. Like Ty Bello said,  there are many Jumokes around you. You might not be able to land that pepper selling a modelling contract,  but render some help in your own little way. If she says her pepper is #1000, don't price it to #250.

DATING COLUMN : WHO SHOULD YOU MARRY, YOUR BOYFRIEND OR BESTFRIEND?

Who should you  marry,  your boyfriend or your best friend?
Hmmm this is a very sensational issue and should be answered with careful consideration.
It is a question that has raised a lot of controversy and arguments over the years.
If your boyfriend and best friend should propose to you,  who would you choose? Confusing isn't it?
So I went round and gathered some interesting  views on this stimulating subject  matter.

1st view :
Your Bestfriend
Your bestfriend understands you better,  knows when you are sad and happy. There is no pretence with your best friend.

2nd view :
Your Boyfriend.
You have never been romantically involved with your best friend .  Marriage is a whole new level. 10 years friendship cannot be compared with a 1 year dating relationship.

3rd view :
Your Boyfriend.
Marriage is extreme. Your best friend should not just come out of the blues and propose. Some people are better off as friends than lovers.

4th view :
Your Boyfriend.
Because there is a reason why one is called boyfriend and the other is a friend.

5th view :
Anybody the Lord ministers to you to pick.

Okay this next view is quite hilarious.

6th view : Test both of them in bed.

Do not think the guys are left out as I also gathered opinions from the men,  who should you marry,  your girlfriend or bestfriend?

1st view :
Your girlfriend should be your best friend. I may not allow my girlfriend to have a male bestie.

2nd view :
In my opinion, I think I would go with my girlfriend. Girlfriends are closer companions than best friends in terms of companionship. Both of them have fun, comfort and friendship so to say. But girlfriend spices it up by throwing some add-ons into the mix.

Enlightening right? But we are not still satisfied with the views. We want someone to throw more light, add a little twist and explain from a different angle entirely. What do you think?  Who should you marry? Drop your comments below,  let's gist!

FASHION SEGMENT- MALE AND FEMALE

MAKE-UP AND BEAUTY TIPS

Hello ladies ! For our Wednesday fashion segment, I am going to be giving basic tips and make up tricks for my lovers of make up out there. The reason being that, I am a pro make up artist and I wish to share a bit of myself with you guys first since I am new to the blog. Firstly, I'll squeeze out some of my make up secrets  and of some really popular make up artists (can't tell you who they are 😉).
1. To get glitter liners ✨✨, instead of using glue or harsh adhesives, you can simply use eyeshadow primer as base for the loose glitters or get gel liners and use them all over your lid for those who can't handle loose glitter
2. For setting your face, if you can't afford to get the regularly ben-nye or Sasha buttercup powder, you can replace it with regular loose powder or baby powder. I personally use loose talcum powder some times 😌.  Be sure to always blend out.
3. When you run out of highlighter remember you can always turn to that gold or silver shade in your eyeshadow pallete you hardly use 😁... We all have one.
4. Also why some Muas are really fast when doing a job is because they don't waste time cream contouring. They speed things up using powder contour without having to do the concealer contour procedure and it gives the same result or even better because it's easier to blend powder. So that zaron or sleek contour kit is very useful on days when you want to slay but have less time!
5. Also in the contour business since that's what's all over the industry like crazy!.. Instead of using concealer to contour, you can also use foundations in different shades that are easy to blend. For example a 507 Marykay user can use a 500 to highlight and a 607 to contour.

Adding to this topic remember to use a damp foam for this (beauty blender  precisely).
So that's for the secrets but not all for today. To close today's topic I will drop basic make up tips and tricks to always keep in mind.
1. Always wash, moisturize and prime your face before applying make up.
2. Know your shade of powder and foundations (which will be elaborated on in future posts )
3. Moisturize lips with lip cream or balm before applying lipsticks.
4. Finally and as we all know by now....NEVER sleep with your make up on. Remember to always take it off before bed.
So folks that's all for today, stay tuned to this blog for future posts that will educate on living a beautiful and fashionable life style. Adios!

MALE FASHION SEGMENT

I'm Ekiran Babafemi Samuel of Crawford university.
Just a brief talk about fashion.

Fashion is d manner or style in which something is done. It is all about you being creative..
I knew fashion because I always wanted to appear good and fascinating. Now I've taken it as a part and parcel of me.
Fashion is lovely when you can combine colours. Let's have this combination.
A BLACK SHIRT,
A BROWN WAIST COAT,
A BLUE BLAZER,
A SLIM TIE WITH red/wine, black, white/cream colors
A  GREEN TROUSERS,
if u will wear an ASH SOCKS a honey BROWN SHOE will go with a honey BROWN BELT,
If u will wear an ASH SHOE, u can use a socks that has at least two colors on the tie.

Try it and appreciate.

TUESDAY SPICE - BURIED TRUTHS COMING TO LIFE; #TSQUARED2016

You know the common saying “every day for the thief but one day for the owner”. Well I guess you could use that to describe what had just happened as the secretary of people’s democratic party (PDP) and former right hand man to Governor Ayo Fayose in person of Dr. Temitope aluko openly confessed a lot of atrocities committed by himself and various politicians in recent years some of which included:
1) The fact the former president Goodluck Jonathan had a meeting with Governor Ayo Fayose and gave Governor Ayo Fayose 37 million dollars from the national treasury which was used to defeat then governor Dr Kayode Fayemi during his governorship campaign. He said Jonathan initially gave Governor Ayo Fayose $2m in March 2014 for the primary election and that this money was collected at the NNPC towers Abuja. He also quoted “ I have details for all I am saying and I was present when they brought the money, the 35 million dollars which he delivered to Governor Ayo Fayose at Spotless Hotel. “ I can name eight people that were there. We were all there because he said he will want us to take delivery so that there will be transparency and accountability”

2)  He also stated the names of other politicians involved in other money scandals during the electioneering process in Ekiti state including Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and also Dr Ifeanyi Ubah ( two previous PDP gubernatorial candidates). Although Dr Ifeanyi Ubah immediately called channels television station all the way from Ghana while the program was on air to deny any accusations brought against.
Things got more interesting as a media representative to Governor Fayose came on air to dis-approve any allegation against the Ekiti state governor and this lead to a heated argument between both parties which I’m sure could have resulted into a fight if not for the intervention of the channels television anchor.
Well what can I say… to be very honest if I were to judge the case of Dr Temitope Aluko I’ll say every testimony he put forward implicating himself and a lot of people stand a good chance of being the truth.
Leaving the sitting room that evening a thought came to my mind and I started wondering if every Nigerian was given an average of one million naira by the government, well aware that some Nigerians would still waste the money it cannot still be compared to the ridiculous amount some of our politicians embezzle for themselves and their family. It’s a sad reality of the country we live in and we can only hope for a better future and take personal actions towards making sure the future is brighter.

#TSQUARED2016
On a brighter note, we can't help but talk about the glamorous wedding of the on air presenter,  Toolz.

The much anticipated traditional wedding between popular (On-air presenter) OAP Tolu Toolz Oniru and Captain Tunde Demuren which eventually took place on the 30th of January 2016 is definitely the talk of the town right now. The event which took place at prestigious Landmarks Event Centre, Victoria Island Lagos was graced by various Nigerian celebrities including the Cool DJ Jimmy Jatt, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Obi Asika, Wizkid and so many others.
Popular American (Nigerian born) rapper Wale was also present at the event. Wale was spotted with Wizkid and when approached confirmed that he arrived in Lagos the previous day for a couple of projects and has since been hanging out with his friend Wizkid.
In attendance at the wedding were two paramount rulers in Yorubaland, Ooni of Ife and the Alaafin of Oyo, the royal highnesses showed up to honor Toolz  who is from the Oniru royal family in Lagos.
Tolulope ‘Toolz’ Oniru is current an on-air personality at in one of Nigeria’s top urban radio stations- the Beat 99.9FM. She is an award winning on-air personality and currently hosts her own radio show ‘The Midday Show with toolz’, she is also Deputy Program Director for The Beat 99.9FM. Before trying her hand at radio presenting on the Beat 99.9FM, Toolz gained extensive experience within the British entertainment industry, having worked at MTV Networks Europe for several years before moving on to the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group before she moved to lagos in mid-2008 and eventually auditioned to be a radio presenter at the Beat 99.9FM after a friend mentioned the new radio station to her before she moved to lagos.
Toolz began hosting her own radio show in April 2009 and her blend of natural humour, love of most things showbiz, passion for music and strong African entertainment knowledge makes her show one of the most sought after –by listeners and celebrities alike. She is extremely passionate about Nigerian/African music, and in 2012 she approached the organizers of Nigeria’s biggest music awards ceremony – The Headies (formally known as the Hip Hop World Awards) and successfully introduced a new category called the ‘Rookie Of The Year’ which gives recognition to talented upcoming Nigerian musicians. She has won numerous awards has also anchored and served as a judge in various shows and was listed on YNaija’s 10 most powerful people in media list.
Captain Tunde Demuren on the other hand is a pilot or aero contractor and his father was the former boss of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Dr Harold Segun Demuren. Captain Tunde Demuren is also a graduate of the prestigious Concordia University Montreal which happens to also be the alma-mater of the former prime minister of Dominican Republic in person of Rosie Douglas. He is also an accountant and has two other degrees.
Populer Nigerian artist Bankole Williams aka Banky W is also a best friend to Captain Tunde Demuren and in an exclusive interview with Toolz she revealed that Tunde didn’t ask her out on a date when they first met and that Banky W was responsible for the match making.
As you can guess the traditional wedding at landmark event center in victoria inland was as classy as ever with the exquisite aso-ebi, the marvellous music not to mention the food amongst so many others. One of the major highlights of the events was a performance by Mavin dynasty queen- Tiwa Savage and YBNL solider- Olamide for the couple. The trending wedding has been tagged #Tsquared2016 and would no doubt be a contender for the wedding of the year at the end of 2016.
We’ll what can we say, Yoruba boys may be so many things but they sure do know how to throw a party.

ENTERTAINMENT NEWS - LATEST ON THE KARDASHIANS, KANYE, CREED...

Entertainment surrounds us.
In several forms such as music, movies, gossip and basically all pop culture in every aspect.
This segment is dedicated in giving you juicy scoops of gossip, celeb sightings sha gist of all sorts weekly so you'd definitely know what's popping in entertainment industry. So stay tuned.

THE KARDASHIAN LOVE TRIANGLE

To the main gist of the day, how do we really keep up with the Kardashians? I mean they're the rich Armenian-American family totally taking over the world by storm but what's a popular family without a bit a drama. Lol scratch that loads of drama, tbh it's actually fun to watch their drama yunno.
So let's talk about the Kardashian love triangle, it's complex so I hope you guys can keep up.

There's Kim Kardashian currently married to Kanye West who used to date Amber Rose who is allegedly seeing Scott Disick who used to date Kourtney Kardashian who is allegedly with Justin Bieber who was allegedly with Kendall Jenner. How can I forget King Kylie who is dating the rapper Tyga who used to date Blacc Chyna who is currently dating Rob Kardashian. What's really messed up is the fact that amber Rose used to be friends with Kim but now she's besties with Blacc Chyna so now the whole family is connected in one big ass love triangle.

And of course, there's their Momma Bear Kris Jenner who has some boy toy named Corey Gamble. No shade but this family definitely likes the darker berries (if you know what I mean).
Their lives are currently available on social media so try to keep up but if you can't we’ve got you covered.

SAYING GOODBYE TO SNAPE

Apparently, some if not most of us grew up watching and reading about the Harry Potter, the wizard boy with the lightning scar on his forehead and at the same time we all grew up hating Severus Snape, the mean potions master who used to bully young Harry.

Snape reminded me of all those mean teachers that were hard to please but at the same those teachers weren't being mean for nothing, they actually pushed us harshly to strive to be better in everything we do. It was their own way of teaching is and making us learn.  And that is what I saw in Snape character as portrayed by Alan Rickman.

Sadly, Alan Rickman passed away about a week ago. He had been battling cancer for a while now but even till end he was very brave.

May his soul rest in peace.

Alan Rickman aka Severus Snape will always have a space in our hearts.

P. S if you've never read any Harry Potter book, you should!

CREED

So I watched this movie a couple of days ago and trust me I was really impressed.

I've watched a lot of 2015 movies especially terrible ones (I won't mention any for now) but Creed is clearly one of the best movies in 2015. It has an impressive imdb rating of 8/10.
It's the story of Apollo Creed’s son, his struggle to succeed as a boxer just like his father amongst other things. Yh it's a movie about boxing but trust me it's more than. It's a story about bravery, persistence, courage and success.

Micheal B. Jordan played the role of Adonis Creed, he clearly embodied his role with a flawless performance. Like he legit gave be a pro boxer vibes. I used to think he was a basic actor but after this movie my impression about him changed.
Fun fact: For the ladies, there's a lot of scenes of him working out yunno and trust me he's a sight for sore eyes.
And how can I forget the legend himself, Sylvester Stallone who plays Rocky Belboa. As always he acted flawlessly.

So if you haven't watched the movie, go and watch it. I promise you won't regret it.

WAVES

So y'all might think talking about the sea but I'm not. I'm talking about Kanye West aka Yeezus and Waves is his upcoming album which would be out Feburary 11th this year. Already Yeezy has dubbed his album as "the best album of all time" but he's firgotten that we the fans are the judge of that.

I know Kanye is a bit of an egomaniac in several ways but we all can't deny the fact that he has produced some really good music like Stronger, Power, Heartless, Black Skinhead, See you in my nightmares, Mercy, All of the lights among several others. So I can't wait to see what's on his new album. Be it good or bad, I'll let you guys know.

Got any comment about Kanye? Drop it below, let's talk.

SUNDAY SPECIAL - YOU AND YOUR REACTION TO SETBACKS

Hey lovers. If you notice,  we are trying to create a pattern here,  a particular day for a particular nature of post ranging from gospel to inspirational to entertainment to dating to fashion to political to sports among many others... Yes we are expanding and we keep getting better,  all for you. So sit back,  enjoy and keep watching this space and one more thing, please comment and share. Your feedbacks mean a lot to us. We cherish you:)

YOU AND YOUR REACTION TO SETBACKS (FAILURE)

It is quite logical that after events of setbacks, disappointments or failures, there lies the heightened possibility that in the light of trying to express our regret for not taking certain adequate steps that could have ensured success, we give certain reactions such as tears of frustration, wailings of exasperation and sometimes, thoughts of throwing in the towel (giving up). These are ungodly tendencies that manifest out of us thanks to our sinister situation.
The Book of I Samuel 30:1-20 gives a detailed account of a particular event took place in the life of David that shows that disposition God expects from every single believer in times of setbacks.
David had run away from Saul who sought to kill him. He went into the camp of the Philistines (these were die-hard enemies of the Israelites whom David had once killed their champion – Goliath). But God gave Him uncommon favour before Achish, the king of Gath – a principal garrison (stronghold) of the Philistines. His relationship with Achish and the Philistines was waxing stronger and stronger to the extent that Achish gave him and his men lands to inhabit with their families. In order to show how much Achish was involved with David, he dangerously invited David to come and war alongside him against David’s own people whom he was to rule. Of course, in order for David to keep himself favoured, he accepted to go to war against the Israelites. But on getting to the battle ground, the other Lords of the Philistines would not take the risk. David and his men were sent back home.
Permit me to say, considering all the situations David had been in, his life seemed to be looking to be going smoothly now. At least he was anointed to rule, and now he was ruling and presiding over a group of people. But that was not were God wanted him to be. Those were not the kind of people his anointing was for (I Samuel 22:2). Do not be complacent with your current situation – there is more for you than you have now in God.
On getting back to their city, they realized that they had been raided – the raiders had carted away their belongings, wives and children. That’s what happens when our pursuits to please others to improve our status and lives instead of pleasing God - it makes us leave our life unguarded. The Devil moves in and raids (John 10:10).
The Bible says David and his men sat down and wept till they no longer had strength to weep anymore. Grown men, men of war, men of valour, men of power, solid men, and rugged men began to weep. You can begin to imagine what the scene looked like. The little they’ve been able to gather had been scattered. The Devil poured sand inside their garri. They had been denied of their little comfort. But God only folded his Almighty arms and was watching their dirge. They were mourning people that were still alive. They were mourning their oncoming victory. And unfortunately, the imminent frustration set in too quickly. They began to talk about stoning David to death.
Here comes the part that makes me happy about David. When he was tired of weeping and realized that his weeping would not resolve the issue at hand, the Bible says, he encouraged himself in the Lord. He then realized that the God that anointed him is the God that rules in the affairs of Men. He asked God, “Should I pursue?” And God immediately got to work. He said “pursue, for you shall overtake and without fail, recover all”. Well, the rest was an overwhelming victory. David and his men who still had strength to fight went and located the band of Amalekite raiders whom God had delayed to foolishly hold parties before getting to their stronghold. When you celebrate premature success, you become susceptible to ambush. The Bible says David recovered everything he had lost to them and more importantly, he spoiled them – more than enough loot for himself and his men that he sent some gifts to the elders of Israel to fund his political ambitions as he understood that his gift would pave way for him. He was now better off than his situation before the raid.
Superb, isn’t it??? David could have been stoned to death. His anointing to rule Israel could have been made useless before he even ruled. Crying and sulking has never solved any problem and it would never solve any. When the Israelites got to the red sea and saw the angry looking Egyptians coming from behind, they began to cry and God told Moses to tell them to move forward. Move forward to where??? Would they swim through the red sea??? God did not create any path in the red sea until they moved forward.
Are you in a seemingly difficult position? Have you failed a life changing examination? Have you amassed more carryover courses than the number of shoes in Lagos Market? Is your CGPA so low that it cannot dial MTN to MTN if it is converted to airtime? Are your parents deliberating divorce? Is it that the finances of the family is below par and you are finding it hard to get back on your financial feet? Have you been heartbroken by colleagues, associates, friends or acquaintances?
I’ll only ask you, have you been thrown into the Lions’ Den? Have you been viciously thrown out of your house by a relative with a gun to your head? Have been unable to give get pregnant and the second wife is tired of seeing children around her? Have you been thrown into a fiery furnace enough to roast with its smoke? Have you been thrown into burning oil? Have you ever been sold into slavery?
Well, if none of the above have happened to you, the God that realigned the situations of Daniel, David, Hannah, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, John the beloved and Joseph respectively for their good, will see to your situation provided you seek Him and do what you have to do rather than for you sit around in idleness crying and regretting over spilled milk. Remember, they that know their God, shall be strong and shall do exploits!
Agape love.

POLITICAL UPDATES

1) CRITICISM WON'T STOP BUHARI'S ANTI-CORRUPTION WAR –Mohammed
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will not relent in his war against corruption until the scourge is destroyed in the country.
He also called on Nigerians to join the battle against corruption in the country.
“This is not Buhari’s war; this is not the All Progressives Congress’ war. This is a war for all Nigerians and we must all join hands in waging the war,’’ Mohammed said while delivering a lecture on Friday at the Faculty of Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
He claimed that once the people were determined to fight corruption, they were assured of victory.
The minister said, ‘’No power has ever been great enough to defeat a people who are determined to win. Let us all form what I call citizens’ coalition against corruption by speaking up against the crime, refusing to glorify or support looters, irrespective of how much dirty cash they dangle before us, and refusing to be divided along religious or ethnic lines.”
While listing the effects of corruption in the nation, the minister said Nigeria lost $400bn in the oil sector alone, adding that so much money was stolen by corrupt leaders from the health, education, security and other sectors.
According to him, atrocities committed by the Boko Haram insurgents continued for many years because the funds allocated to buy weapons for the military were shared by some corrupt persons.
Apart from massive loss of lives and property, Mohammed stated that corruption in public office had caused endemic poverty, poor infrastructure and lack of qualitative health care, among other effects.
The minister, however, claimed that corruption had started fighting back, saying some of the corrupt persons had started hiring hack writers, pseudo analysts to attack the President’s war against corruption in the media.
He said, “On the part of government, let me reiterate what I said earlier that there is no stopping this fight. Those who doubt the resolve of this administration to successfully wage this battle will learn a tough lesson, a lesson of their lives.
“Failure is not an option in this fight. In the days ahead, we plan a road show of sorts on corruption sensitisation efforts.”
Mohammed decried the use of ethno-religious sentiment to weaken the anti-corruption war, but asked Nigerians to ignore the trick “because poverty and other effects of corruption did not discriminate between people according to ethnicity or religious beliefs.”

2) NYSC BANS COMBINATION OF LAW SCHOOL AND NATIONAL SERVICE
The National Youth Service Corps has said that henceforth, participation in the national service and attendance of Law School at the same time “would not be acceptable”.
A statement by the spokesperson of the NYSC, Mrs. Abosede Aderibigbe, on Friday said this was part of the resolutions made at 2016 annual management conference of the organisation, which took place in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Participants also agreed that the policy on posting of the corps members to places of primary assignment would be reviewed to meet contemporary needs.
Aderibigbe said the conference stated that the NYSC Act provided for uninterrupted service year, and “advised prospective corps members to choose which one to defer between national service and Law School attendance instead of attempting to combine both.”
She said, “Parents of prospective corps members have also been advised by the confab to allow their graduate children take decisions as adults and avoid discouraging them from accepting postings to any location in the country.
“Management also noted the return of normalcy in some states whose orientation camps were closed due to insecurity, and expressed readiness to make phased reopening of the camps after due consultations with security agencies and governments of the affected states.”
The conference further resolved to deepen engagements with key stakeholders, including the security and intelligence community and traditional rulers on matters of security and general well-being of corps members.

3) ZIKA VIRUS: FG alerts Nigerians, restricts travel to Latin America
The Federal Government has alerted Nigerians on the outbreak of Zika virus infection, with directive that the citizens, especially pregnant women should be restricted from traveling to Latin America until the situation improves.
The government, which directed the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control to include Zika virus diagnosis as part of the ongoing efforts to manage Lassa fever outbreak in the country, said anyone coming from any of the Latin American countries should be interviewed at the various ports of entry to ascertain evidence of Zika virus symptoms.
A statement issued on Friday in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Federal Ministry of Health, Mrs. Boade Akinola, quoted the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, as saying that Zika virus infection, which was first discovered in Brazil in 2014, is transmitted by a bite of mosquito vector.
While assuring Nigerians that “there is no single case of Zika virus infection in the country and there is no need to panic,” he said the Federal Ministry of Health would continue to monitor the situation and update Nigerians of any other developments.
Adewole said, “The World Health Organisation has raised a global alert because the disease has affected about 23 countries in Americas especially in Latin America. At the moment, there is no cure or vaccine for Zika virus infection.
“The Federal Ministry of Health hereby advises a travel restriction especially by pregnant women to Latin America for now until the situation improves. In addition, we have directed the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control to include Zika virus diagnosis as part of ongoing effort to manage Lassa fever outbreak in the country.
“Nigerians should be vigilant and report promptly any case of unexplained fever that is more than 48 hours, especially in those with recent travels to Latin America, to health care professionals.
“Nigerians working at various ports of entry into the country should interview anyone coming from any of the Latin American countries for evidence of Zika virus symptoms.”
The manifestation of Zika virus infection include mild fever, rash (mostly maculo-papular), headaches, joint pain (arthralgia), muscle pain (myalgia), loss of weight (asthenia) and non-purulent conjunctivitis.
The virus is also associated with higher risk of congenital malformations in newborn when pregnant women are affected. The diseases usually occur about three to twelve days after the mosquito vector bites.

4) ARMS DEAL: EFCC INVESTIGATES OBANIKORO’S CHILDREN OVER ALLEGED N4.8 BILLION FUND

Former Defence Minister Musiliu Obanikoro's 2 children,  Babajide and  Gbolahan Obanikoro are currently been investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Sources at the anti- graft agency disclosed that N4,745,000,000.00 was traced to a company, Sylvan McNamara Limited, in which they both have investments in.
The money was allegedly paid into the company’s account with Diamond bank over a period of time from the Office of the National Security Adviser account with the CBN. According to the source, all the transfers took place between June and December 2014,which was during the Ekiti state governorship election.  N200 million was allegedly transferred into  Sylvan Mc Namara’s account on June 5, 2015, while N2billion was also wired into the account from the CBN/ Imprest Main account on June 16, 2015. Another transfer of N700 million went into the account on July 7, 2014, while N1billion was credited into the account on July 30, 2014.  Other transfers included: N160 million on August 8, 2014; N225 million on August 22, 2014; N200 million  on November 14, 2014 and N200 million on December 5, 2014. Both Gbolahan and Babajide Obanikoro, were allegedly directors of the company and were also signatories to its account until 2014 when one Olalekan Ogunseye was made the sole signatory to the account. EFCC sources disclosed that the payments to the company from the office of the National Security Adviser were made without any contract.

5) SEIZE ANY MONEY IN ANY FOREIGN ACCOUNT TRACED TO ME- AKPABIO TELLS FG

Former Akwa Ibom state governor and Senator, Godswill Akpabio, has asked the Federal government to seize any money in any foreign account that is traced to him. Akpabio said this in a statement he released today through his spokesperson, Anietie Ekong. He released the statement to debunk a newspaper report that he had made a secret attempt to withdraw $7.2 billion from banks in Dubai, United Arab Emirate, through channels in the Central Bank of Nigeria
“We challenge these purveyors of falsehood to publish the full details of the purported $7.2 billion account and we urge the Federal Government of Nigeria to seize such sum and prosecute the owner if it does exist. People should learn to accept the outcome of elections and stop this kind of dangerous propaganda in the name of politics,” he said.

6) SPEECH BY THE GOVERNOR AT THE INAUGURATION:

We are here today to perform a solemn duty, to kickstart the work of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the 12-14 December 2015 clashes in Zaria. As you are aware, lives were lost and property were destroyed during the tragic clashes between the group known as the Islamic Movement in Nigeria and a detachment of the Nigerian Army. For reasons of accountability and transparency, the Kaduna State Government deems it right and proper to institute this Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the incidents. This will allow all parties to state their case and afford the public a fair and accurate accounting of the events.
The Kaduna State Government is of the firm belief that such an authoritative account will assign administrative and criminal responsibility where due. In addition to determining responsibility, the outcome of this Inquiry will hopefully enable government and society to understand the historical background, and the culture and practices that are relevant in providing context to the regrettable events. The government is especially concerned that all citizens take seriously their duty of allegiance to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to respect the prerogatives of state institutions, to abide by the laws of the country and to exercise their freedom to practice their faith in ways that do not infringe on the rights of other citizens.
Since the government announced its decision to constitute this Judicial Commission of Inquiry, we have been asked why we are establishing this Inquiry in the light of certain actions the government has taken. Our response is that it is neither right nor prudent for the Kaduna State Government to abdicate its constitutional responsibility, and to conceal this under the cover of a commission of inquiry. Governance cannot be suspended even for processes as weighty as a Judicial Commission of Inquiry. Where the government has evidence that crimes have been committed, it is only proper that prosecutions be initiated.
In the aftermath of the clashes, it became the duty of the municipal authorities to restore normalcy to the affected neighbourhoods. Measures to safeguard public health and safety by removing unsound structures, and clearing debris from the scene of the clashes thus became unavoidable. People were rescued from the debris, while corpses which could have constituted a risk to public health were discovered and removed. The governance of the state cannot be paused because of the events of December 2015.
In all our actions since the events, we have sought only to discharge the normal obligations of government to protect the rights of all citizens with equal concern and to protect the public interest. Kaduna State bears too vividly the scars of the horrors that have been inflicted on it by ethno-communal and religious upheavals. We have a duty to promote peace, foster harmony, and end the legacy of division by ensuring that the law applies equally to everyone.
Let it be clear that the Kaduna State Government is convinced that a Judicial Commission of Inquiry provides a chance to understand the events that happened, their background, establish casualties, assign responsibilities and make appropriate recommendations to the federal and state governments, so that such tragedies may be avoided in future. Those that wrongly believe that a federal government inquiry is necessary to satisfy them should note that under the 1999 Constitution, only State Governments can institute judicial commissions of inquiry in their states. The Federal Government can only do so in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja. Those that argue that a state level inquiry cannot invite, compel attendance and interrogate the criminal or administrative responsibility of federal actors are also wrong as the laws of Kaduna State apply to every person that is engaged in acts of omission or commission in our territory whether that person or group is military, paramilitary or civilian. Members of the Armed Forces, like all citizens, are subject to state and federal laws. We have been deliberate in consulting widely with the governments of the 19 Northern States and the Federal Government before concluding on the need for this Inquiry.
These distinguished Nigerians have been selected for their integrity, skills, experience and competence. They are not representing any organization, group or interest. It is their knowledge, professional skills, character and record of service that qualified them to be chosen for this important national assignment. We are confident that the caliber of persons we have today and the diverse pool of knowledge, experience and patriotism they collectively bring will help our state and our country to ensure that the needless deaths of our citizens that occurred in the December 2015 clashes are never repeated.
I wish to thank the Chairman, Members and Secretary of this Judicial Commission of Inquiry for accepting to undertake this assignment. I want to recognize and also thank Yusuf Ali, SAN and the team of lawyers working with him for graciously accepting to serve as Counsel to the Commission.
My Lord Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, this Inquiry may well turn out to be a thankless assignment for which you will be accused, smeared and attacked. Some of it may already have started. It is however a task that needs the attention of our best and brightest. It requires the thickest of skins. You are the thirteen wise men and women that we believe will do this for Nigeria under the guidance of Almighty God. I therefore urge you to take all present and future challenges in your stride while striving to be fair and just to everyone as required by our Constitution, laws, the Instrument and the rules of natural justice.
The Terms of the Inquiry are as follows:
i. To determine the immediate causes of the Clashes;
ii. To determine the historical circumstances, surrounding and contributory factors and remote causes of the Clashes;
iii. To ascertain the number of persons killed, wounded or missing during the Clashes;
iv. To identify all property alleged to have been damaged or destroyed during the Clashes, the owners or occupiers of such property and the value claimed by them for such damage or destruction;
v. To identify actions and omissions of relevant persons, traditional and religious institutions, Federal and State actors and emergency response agencies before, during and after the Clashes;
vi. To determine whether the actions and omissions identified in sub-paragraph (e) above were necessary, appropriate and sufficient in the circumstances in which they occurred;
vii. To determine the evolution of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, its organization, structure, membership, growth, assets, resources, culture and practices, and how any or all of these contributed to any engagement with the community, constituted authorities and the security agencies;
viii. To review all other factors, issues or matters, including the alleged involvement of foreign and domestic actors or their influence or instigation, that may have contributed to the incident or may conduce to such incidents in the future and make recommendations thereto;
ix. To make recommendations to the Kaduna State Government and the Federal Government as to direct or indirect responsibility for any acts of commission or omission identified in sub-paragraph (v) above;
x. To make recommendations as to actions to be taken to ensure that administrative or criminal responsibility is further determined by the appropriate administrative or judicial authorities for any identified acts or omissions;
xi. To make recommendations as to actions to be taken, policies to be developed and implemented to ensure that acts and omissions that may have contributed or led to the Clashes are pre-empted entirely or, where they occur, their negative effects are mitigated, in future;
xii. To recommend any matter for prosecution, further investigation or the convening of a separate inquiry to the appropriate Law Enforcement Agency, Government Department or Prosecutor regarding the conduct of a certain person or persons; and
xiii. To investigate any other matter incidental or relevant to these Terms of Inquiry which, in the Commission’s view, should be investigated and make any other pertinent recommendations that it deems necessary for the purpose.
The Kaduna State Government looks forward to receiving the interim and final reports of this Commission within six weeks after the first public sitting.

5 DON'TS OF ANY RELATIONSHIP

Hey lovelies. Hope you had a wonderful week? Yes it's Friday and guess what we are talking about? Is it... Nope you guessed wrong, not like I know what you guessed anyway lol but to those who guessed right,  yes,  we are going to be discussing  relationships. Hmmmm...
Yes,  everyone wants a healthy,  steady relationship,  no one wants an unstable fluctuating relationship where today, your facebook status is "In a relationship ",  tomorrow is "Single",  the next day "it's complicated"... Now  that's really messed up and am guessing no one will want to be in that kind of confused relationship but you have to play the role.
Now,  everyone is always talking about what you must do to keep your man or your girl but we often ignore the "don'ts" of a relationship. Yes there are things you necessarily have to do to maintain a relationship but equally important, there are things you shouldn't do as will be discussed below.

1) Don't nag
No one likes to be in a relationship where the other person is constantly complaining or nagging about something all the time. Even if you have reservations about your boyfriend's or girlfriend's behavior or approach to things,  present it in a constructive and loving manner and once you've mentioned it once, you don't have to keep whining about it. Trust your partner to change and be supportive also,  help him see reasons why he/she needs to change and ways to go about it but once you start nagging,  the relationship gets tiring.

2)Don't involve a third party
You have a misunderstanding or issue with your boyfriend or girlfriend,  keep it within the house. Don't wash your dirty linen in public. Your misunderstanding should never erupt into an explosive fight or a dramatic scene in public. The more you involve friends and well wishers in your relationship,  the more your relationship becomes a public affair. Then at some point,  you will just realize you are not just dating your girlfriend but all her friends also because everyone has a say in what was meant to be a relationship between two people.

3) Don't keep tabs
Don't get me wrong on this one,  keep records of the good  things but definitely not the bad ones. Grudges are like slow poisons,  they keep wielding up and up until they finally kill the relationship. Settle your disputes amicably the moment they arise. Talk about it, no one is perfect. The other person may not even know that he/she had offended you. Talk about it,  resolve it and let it end there, you don't have to keep referring to it the next time there is another misunderstanding. Don't keep tabs. Bearing grudges in mind will only tear you guys apart.

4) Don't be Selfish
A healthy relationship entails taking into consideration at all times, note,  not only when it is convenient, the feelings of the other person. In a relationship,  you guys are a team so you have to  engage in some little teamwork like play together, talk together, make decisions together and pray together. Don't always insist on having your way all the time. Sometimes you are right,  other times you are wrong. Learn to give room for other people's opinions and tolerate other's point of view. Also,  put yourself in the shoes of your partner before you say or do anything or react in a particular way to a particular situation.

5) Don't Give up on your relationship
Relationships entail commitments and sacrifices. Every long lasting relationship you see today  has had its rough days but what sustained the relationship was the ability of the partners to endure the pain,  the storm,  the struggles and the hard times and fight for what they believe in - the relationship. A relationship is a whole package,  you cannot enjoy the benefits without enduring the burdens. You have to embrace the whole of it.

I will leave you with these five tips for today. So if you have been that nagging, selfish or public boyfriend or girlfriend,  it's time to step up your game a lil bit and be a more caring,  loving,  compassionate and understanding girlfriend.
